A few weeks back, my friend, colleague and teacher Dr. Michael Smith reached out to ask about my work in recovery and sobriety. A fellow holistic health practitioner, he’s observed the heartbreaking impact of the quarantine on folks.
In particular, we talked about the ways many people are “coping” — ways that ultimately make anxiety, depression and other mental health issues far, far worse.
Michael invited me to talk about this — along with my own sobriety story — on the Fusion Health Radio podcast. Chatting with him and co-host Anthony Sanna was a true delight.
The episode is titled A Holistic Approach to Addiction and Sobriety. In it, we talk about:
- My own addiction and sobriety story
- The connection between eating disorders and other addictions
- Life after getting sober (and how to make it fucking fantastic)
- What it means to be “sober curious”
- Why the best medicine in treating addiction is individual and holistic
